Today was one of those days that took every ounce of my strength to finish each set at the gym. I didn’t feel like I had any energy or muscle. I had to push through every exercise, forcing myself to keep going, but I persevered. I walked out of the gym hot and sweaty, but glad I went.
Recently, this was how I was feeling about reading my Bible. I was pushing myself to do it. I was making myself sit down, open the book, and focus in. Concentration and attentiveness was a struggle. Before I knew it, I had read through a chapter and had no idea what it said. I was thinking about what I needed from the grocery store or wondering if the clothes were ready for the dryer. I decided I needed to put a different strategy in place.
In verse eight of the first chapter of Joshua, the Lord told Joshua to meditate on Scripture day and night. So, I decided to meditate on one verse at a time and document it in a visual journal. Sometimes I stay on the same verse for a week, sometimes only be for a day. But, thus far, the plan has been helping and today marked the halfway point of filling up a book!
What do you do when you are feeling this way?
