FBCS 5th & 6th grade Art Club created the owls for our thanksgiving bulletin boards. Students then added post-it notes of who they were thankful for. Great job art club artists!

These FBCS 5th & 6th grade artists are amazing. I enjoyed every Wednesday afternoon art club meeting with them. They created beautiful art displays for the whole school to enjoy. Thank you for your hard work, enthusiasm, and love for art!
Art club is more than a lot of fun! Art club provides an opportunity for students to build a close-knit community. Students get to practice their artistic skills and learn from each other. The first session of art club this school year consists of 5th & 6th grade artists. They are currently creating fall artwork to display in the hallway leading to the lunchroom.
FBCS 5th & 6th grade Art Club Christmas Party was a blast! We decorated cookies, ate ice cream, and had a White Elephant Gift Exchange. I love these students!
Wow, I can’t believe we started our third week of December! FBCS students have been creating “Handprint Snowmen” and “What Christmas is all about” pictures. It is looking a lot like Christmas throughout the halls of the middle school building. Art club members are creating tile mosaics. It is fun to see the smiles that a hammer and safety glasses can create. Below are a few photographs to enjoy. I love my 7th and 8th grade Art Club members! I have to say, they are amazing. For the past few weeks they have been working on designs for tile mosaics. Students transferred their drawings to their boards today and next week we will start preparing our tile. A big thank you goes to Mr. Snipes for cutting the plywood for us!
I am taking steps to re-create the Art Club I started a few years ago. The first year I started the club I had more students than I could fit into my classroom. We literally had to bring in chairs from the library. It was fun but changes definitely needed to be made. The next year I divided Art Club into two groups, fifth and sixth met during first semester and seventh and eighth during second. Again, we had fun. But this year I am ready to restructure again. I am interested in starting a mentorship Art Club. My thoughts are, seventh and eighth graders will start art club Wednesday, October 1. They will research, design, and create a mosaic. Second semester these students will adopt a fifth or sixth grader and will help their student walk thru the same project. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated?
7th and 8th grade Art Club members sketched the design on the rain barrel and started painting. The transformation is taking place. |
