NJAHS members Delaney, Haleigh, & Vivian spearheaded the Helping Haiti Collection Drive. From mid October through November, they had FBCS and Apple Tree Academy students to bring in supplies. This week the supplies will be delivered to Missionary Flights International in Fort Pierce where they will be loaded on planes headed for Haiti. I am proud of these girls and blessed to know them. Way to make a difference for Christ! Also a big thank you goes to Mrs. Edwards for her help with collecting supplies from Apple Tree Academy.

Third, fourth, & fifth grade artists spent their time in the studio today learning how to finger knit. Finger knitting is a type of weaving that uses yarn, fingers, & a pair of scissors. Our star finger knitters were Tanner, Rebecca, & Francesca. Here is the video we used to learn how to do it. FBCS 5th & 6th grade Art Club created the owls for our thanksgiving bulletin boards. Students then added post-it notes of who they were thankful for. Great job art club artists!
Kindergarten & 2nd grade artists painted their clay roosters and fish with tempera paint this morning. After art, Kindergarten students joined 1st graders in an action packed Thanksgiving Feast. There were all kinds of activities and the students enjoyed them all. Thank you Mrs. Mejia and all the parent volunteers.
And the winner is Team 7: Maddie P., Maddie K., Rachel, Allison, & Seth Middle School artists are learning about the elements and principles of art. For this assignment they worked in groups to compose a simple song on the elements of art. Every group did a great job and I am sure they all can tell you (or I should say they can sing) the elements of art. Great job middle school artists! These FBCS 5th & 6th grade artists are amazing. I enjoyed every Wednesday afternoon art club meeting with them. They created beautiful art displays for the whole school to enjoy. Thank you for your hard work, enthusiasm, and love for art!
Taylor is a FBCS 5th grade artist. The portrait of a cat is a project she just finished in the FBCS Art Studio. In addition to creating art, she likes to play the piano & flute, take photographs, read books, and play volleyball. Here is what Taylor had to say about art.
What do you love about art? I love art because it comes in so many ways, and I can easily turn my thoughts into art. Why is art important to you? Art is important to me because it always keeps me busy. Also I enjoy using my mind for art. Are you creating anything special right now? Yes, I am creating lots of Christmas crafts, and I am making a fish in acrylic that I will repaint on a wall. Do you have anything additional to add? I love every kind of art like, painting, crafting, origami, drawing, and more. Art inspire me, that is why I do it. Clay day with 1st and 2nd grade was a great success. Thank you Warrior Workshop mom, Mrs. Marshall for all your help. Our artists worked hard and their owls and fish look fabulous. Kindergarten will be making roosters this week. We will be adding color, legs, and hangers to our creations. To find out more about this lesson, click on the Lessons tab above and the Clay roosters, owls, & fish icon.
Today was day one of clay class for FBCS high school artists and I have to say they did a fabulous job. They learned how to create stencils and how to roll clay slabs. They also learned a process which involves joining together slabs using scoring and wet clay. They experimented with using clay tools to sculpt details and add texture. Thank you Stuart Ceramics for having us! I can't wait to see their work after it is fired and painted. |
