Can I just say this student continues to amaze me. Natalie is a 6th grader at FBCS and spends her spare time creating costumes. This is her latest design. I love my students!
What do you love about art? I love creating. You can do anything with art. I like being able to take my ideas and create new and fun things.
Why is art important to you? Art is important to me because it is something that I can do and I am talented at it. I enjoy creating costumes and I am good at it. Are you creating anything special right now? I am creating a dog costume. Do you have anything additional to add? Don’t think people are weird if they like to wear costumes in public! Taylor is a FBCS 5th grade artist. The portrait of a cat is a project she just finished in the FBCS Art Studio. In addition to creating art, she likes to play the piano & flute, take photographs, read books, and play volleyball. Here is what Taylor had to say about art.
What do you love about art? I love art because it comes in so many ways, and I can easily turn my thoughts into art. Why is art important to you? Art is important to me because it always keeps me busy. Also I enjoy using my mind for art. Are you creating anything special right now? Yes, I am creating lots of Christmas crafts, and I am making a fish in acrylic that I will repaint on a wall. Do you have anything additional to add? I love every kind of art like, painting, crafting, origami, drawing, and more. Art inspire me, that is why I do it. Ellie is a 7th grade student at FBCS. When Ellie is not creating artwork, she is cheering for FBCS sports. Ellie loves art and feels it provides a way to forgot about your troubles and gives you a way to express yourself. Currently she is making doll furniture for her sister out of popsicle sticks. Ellie made the artwork featured in the picture above from recycled materials. Here is what she wrote about it: My sculpture looks like a tower you would see in a big city. My sculpture is about how you can take scraps and leftover or useless things no longer needed, to make something cool. My piece is titled "Scrap Needle" because it resembles the Space Needle in Seattle, Washington. The tower is full of all different colors added on top of one another and it has a unique shape and textures that are rough, rugged, smooth and bumpy. The proportions are also unique. The shape is evenly balanced out by the placement of the materials and supplies. Our two lower elementary school artists for this nine weeks are Morgan and Kason. Morgan is a Kindergarten student at FBCS. When she is not creating artwork, Morgan likes to play with her dolls. Kason loves sports, especially baseball and soccer. He enjoys making things and he thinks art is important because it teaches you how to build things. Great job Morgan and Kason!
Heath is a 7th grader at FBCS. He enjoys playing basketball and X-Box. Heath thinks art is fun, loves that it offers him the opportunity to make things, and he is good at it. The boat picture is a project he just completed in the FBCS Art Studio. It is a great example of art being used to make a statement about an important issue. The following is what Heath wrote about his art. Great job Heath! My artwork looks like a fishing boat. The title is the Lonely Fishing Boat. It consists of stuff that people would throw away, like cardboard, old glue sticks, bottle caps, and pencils. My artwork was inspired by boats. I wanted to show that people throw things away that can be used for art. My goals were to reuse and recycle. Making this helped me reach my goals because I took something that someone would throw away and made a boat. I learned that people throw too much stuff away that they could reuse. I will probably make more boats. Sierra is a 6th grader at FBCS. She is involved in soccer, basketball, music and art club. Sierra is very compassionate and kindhearted. Recently she created a puppet show theater for one of her art class projects. It includes changing scenery and spoon puppets. She plans to give it to her friend's younger sister. This is what Sierra has to say about art: What do you love about art? It is always so colorful! Why is creativity and imagination important to you? It is important because you have to be opened minded to being creative. Are you creating anything special right now? Not that I can think of. To me, art is... Awesome, and colorful, magical and creative. Do you have anything additional to add? I am 12, and love it. I've been 12 for 3 days.
Our estuary is slowly getting destroyed because of Lake Okeechobee. Ever since January 1, 2016 they started dumping the polluted water from Lake Okeechobee into our river again. The water in Lake Okeechobee use to naturally flow into the Everglades when it would overflow. When it was no water on the land, it was very fertile. So somebody thought it would be a good idea to make a dike to make sure that their crops wouldn't get flooded. But since the lake couldn't naturally flow they had to drain it somehow. Instead of making canals in the fields they started dumping into the river. So all the nasty lake water ruins our estuary. Instead of spending a nice summer on the river, you can risk getting a flesh eating disease that can easily kill you. If that's not enough, my Dad's fishing business was practically ruined as well as many others. I hope this helps you understand what is going on around here, in case you are a total recluse to what is going on in your environment.
Do you have anything additional to add?
If you have not created art before you should try it.
